Since 2010 our trust has been providing a boarding-school education for Maria and Cherotich, two 4 year-old Kenyan girls, who until then had been living in under-resourced orphanages. Both have thrived personally and academically. After six years of our support, to our delight, Cherotich was reunited with her mother. We are grateful we had the chance to help Cherotich physically, personally and academically through those important years.

Maria continues to be supported by ECKO and is now fourteen. Charlotte, one of the founders of ECKO, visits Maria several times a year (at her own expense) to mentor and support her. Maria has thrived – she is a motivated, high-achieving student and is thoughtful and mature. She is developing leadership skills and was voted student vice-president in this last year (2021) of school.

Maria will begin high school later this year. We plan to enrol her in a school that offers an international program of study, with a broad range of learning opportunities – including good computer tuition and resources, sports, languages, and excellent pastoral care. ECKO’s fundraising ensures that Maria can continue to thrive and succeed, avoiding a very disadvantaged start in life.

ECKO must now raise $13,000 each year for the next 4 years. We hope you can help ECKO to maintain this life-changing opportunity for Maria by making an annual donation, or an automated fortnightly or monthly payment.

ECKO is a small-scale charity, but it makes a world of difference to the quality of Maria’s life. In effect, it offers her a future.
